Brows

WHAT STYLE OF BROW DO YOU TATTOO AT SASS BEAUTY CENTRE? AND WHY WOULD IT SUIT ME?

Sass Beauty Centre specialises in powder brows which give a soft and natural look and heal well within oily, combination and dry skins. We do not offer hair strokes as they do not heal well on most skin types. Hair strokes usually need to be retouched more frequently than the powder fill method, as they fades more quickly (particular hair stroke brows done in lighter colours). So if for you, the most important factor in your cosmetic tattoo treatment is longevity, we would recommend powder brows.

Also, in older skin, or skin that has been aged prematurely from sun exposure, the hair strokes do not stay in the skin as well defined as in younger skin. So for mature clients, we would also recommend the powder fill.

WHAT IS A ‘TOUCH UP’ AND ‘COLOUR BOOST’ AND DO I NEED IT?

No two skins are alike, and your skin will not retain 100% of your pigment on your first visit as your body is designed to break down and expel foreign substances - like pigment, so we will need to see you in 4-6 weeks for a ‘touch up’ visit to re implant more pigment and to ensure your tattoo is perfect, this is a cost of $50 if rebooked within 8 weeks.

We recommend to book in for a colour boost within 12-24 months to keep your brows looking fresh and defined, as a cosmetic tattoo is very superficial and is not a 'forever tattoo’, pigments have evolved over time and have become advanced in the way of fading softly and naturally. Our aim is to give you a natural look, and for your cosmetic tattoo to enhance your natural beauty and not over take it.

WHAT ARE POWDER BROWS COSMETIC TATTOOS?

The powder fill method involves the application of thousands of tiny little dots of pigment, inserted into the top layer of the skin, gradually building up a colour and a defined shape. The pigment usually lasts longer when applied in this manner, as it is there are more pixels applied inside the skin.

However, many people are fearful of this method looking too ‘solid’ or unnatural, because it does indeed have a more defined, solid look than hair strokes alone. But, what many people don’t realize is it can be made to look very natural looking – by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment – to allow a defined yet soft/non solid look.

If you fill in your brows regularly with pencil or shadow, then this is the method for you! It mimics the look of filled in brows, without all the effort each morning.

WHAT ARE OMBRE BROWS COSMETIC TATTOOS?

This popular technique is a version of Powder Brows. We fill in the brows with a faded technique that starts darker in the brow tails and becomes lighter towards the center.  The result is beautiful ombre brows. Ombre Brows can be made to look very natural, by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment and allowing for a defined yet soft/non solid look.

Many people are fearful of this method looking unnatural, because it does create a more defined, but today's Ombre Brows are waaaaaaay more natural looking than their 1980 predecessors.

Lips

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

A lip blush tattoo is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color, improves the shape of the lips, and gives definition and the illusion of fullness. Lip blushing gives your lips 30% more volume. It is an extremely popular semi-permanent make up treatment providing a flush of color as well as defining the lip contours. It is a very effective way of dressing the lips as naturally pale lips can instantly be given a dramatic new appearance. Pigments are available in all different shades to match all the lip colors to provide a subtle color that enhances the natural lip color, lip scars could also be camouflaged.

We have a wide range of lip pigments.

HOW PERMANENT IS IT?

The results vary person to person. After your initial session and the touch up, your lip blushing results should last between 2-5 years. Additional touch ups may be required depending on the person and look desired.

Your lifestyle contributes to how well it maintains; smoking and sun exposure can speed up the fading process, and if you’re oil-prone, have an iron deficiency or use a lot of exfoliating products in your skin regimen, the pigment could fade more quickly, too.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Eyeliner: Lash growth serums bring extra circulation (blood flow) to the surface of your lash line resulting in enhanced growth, your skin in the area will be in a hyper sensitive state and will bleed easily, you will need to discontinue use of your lash serum 3-6 months before you can have an eyeliner procedure.

Lips: Cold sores are a common side affect after lip tattooing. If you have ever had cold sores (even years ago), shingles or chicken pox, a prescribed anti-viral medication must be taken prior to and after the procedure (i.e. Acyclovir).

Lips will be kept numb during the procedure with a combination of topical anesthetics.

To ensure the best retention of color, it is advisable to exfoliate the lips during the week prior to your lip blush tattoo procedure by using a soft toothbrush, a washcloth or wet paper towel. After exfoliating, apply Vaseline or a lip moisturizer to lips. Do not wax above lips or use any bleaching products within a week of procedure.

Eyeliner

WHAT IS SEMI PERMANENT EYELINER?

Also known as an eyeliner tattoo, permanent eyeliner is a tyep of permanent makeup procedure which places pigment along the top and bottom eyelashes to give the illusion of thicker, darker and fuller lashes. Similar to any other tattoo, eyeliner pigment is injected with a tattoo needle into the skin of the eyelid, unlike body tattoos, the needle only deposits pigment into the top layer of the skin, also the pigment used is formulated differently and contains less metals. Eyeliner tattoos can be applied in a variety of styles, from extremely thin and natural-looking liner, to thicker lines, and is usually re applied 3-5 years after your first procedure.

For starting out, we recommend the lash line enhancement liner to everyone! It is a staple and good for those that want to go natural before committing to a more thick line. If you wear makeup on a regular basis and want your eyeliner to stand out more, a medium to thick line is recommended. You can always start small and add more as you go when receiving touch-ups.

THE BENEFITS

The benefits of receiving an eyeliner tattoo range from not needing to wear eyeliner anymore (if you frequently wear it as part of your beauty routine), to enhancing your eye shape. The treatment also lasts between two and five years before you'll need a touch-up, which is fairly long-lasting as far as beauty treatments go. Finally, you don't need to have eyelashes to get this procedure, so it's a popular treatment for those with sparse lashes, hair loss, and/or alopecia to enhance the eye area.

Eyeliner tattoos will last 3-5 years, however, the color retention varies according to individual skin type (thicker skin fades faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), body chemistry, and age. The fading process is extremely gradual for eyeliner tattoo and normally a touch-up is recommended every two years.
